What's online | What's not online

In November 1993, a large database of high-resolution radar measurements was collected using the McMaster IPIX radar at the east coast of Canada, from a clifftop near Dartmouth, Nova Scotia. The 339 data sets in the database cover a wide range of conditions:

• Wave conditions: 0.8 - 3.8 m (peak height up to 5.5 m)
• Wind conditions: 0 - 60 km/hr (gusts up to 90 km/hr)
• Mode of operation: 360 ° surveillance - 2 minute stare
• Looking at: pure clutter - known floating objects ('targets')

What is online:

• Graphical display of all 339 datasets. Pictures include radar return plots, polar plots, and time doppler spectra.
• Wind, wave, and weather information.
• Maps and pictures of the data collection site.
• Logbook maintained by experimenters.
• A subset of the actual data files, in particular those that (1) contain a small test object in one of their range bins, and (2) have a two minute dwell time.
• Instructions on how to process the actual data files in Matlab.

What is not online:

• The data files are stored on 10 CD-ROMs. To obtain data files other than the ones that are online, you are invited to contact Simon Haykin.
